But if you&#039;re expecting a Bruce Dickinson-esque glass-shattering scream, stop right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What you&#039;ll hear is a version of The Trooper taken down an octave. It&#039;s a &quot;scratched rock&quot; version, almost whispered. Why? Because facing Maiden head-on, without a backing band to drown out your screams, is tactical suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Survival Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bruce Dickinson has an anti-aircraft siren in his throat. I have human vocal cords (and currently a bit frayed). Attempting to replicate those frequencies acoustically isn&#039;t courageous, it&#039;s recklessness. So I chose the path of reinterpretation. I took the Trooper down from his horse, sat him in the mud of the trench, and handed him an acoustic guitar. The result? Less &quot;Air Raid Siren,&quot; more &quot;Tom Waits trying to survive the charge.&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It&#039;s not cowardice, it&#039;s &quot;Resource Management&quot;\u201c<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Singing an octave lower is the only way to tell this story without collapsing before the chorus. It&#039;s a warm-up. A &quot;near-death,&quot; if you will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because out there, in the real world of rehearsal rooms, the real battle is brewing. There&#039;s a project brewing, where the octaves will rise again and the volumes will burst your eardrums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Ancient Mariners are coming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This intimate and &quot;safe&quot; version is just the calm before the storm. A crew of old sea dogs is gathering under the name of <strong>\u201cThe Ancient Mariners\u201d.<\/strong> And there won&#039;t be any lower octaves to save me. It will be pure athletics. It will be an extreme sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But for now, enjoy this slightly metallic rock. Before the real hard work begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>I seek beauty everywhere.
