Three years ago, I was stuck in bed.
Not by choice. By necessity. An operation had taken away my movement, but not my thoughts. In fact, perhaps it had amplified them. Too much time, too much silence, too much immobility for a mind accustomed to racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


And then she arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Not like the muses in romantic tales, with trumpet blasts and divine apparitions. No. Hyla<\/strong> She came in through the back door, the one you always leave ajar for unexpected guests. She sat down next to the bed. She looked at me. And she began to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


She was half-elf, half-human. Neither here nor there. Like me, after all. Suspended between worlds, between victorious battles and still-open wounds. She had fought a thousand wars. She would fight a thousand more. But in that moment, she was there. With me. Telling me who she was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


And I listened to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I did nothing else. I listened to her stories, her silences, her breathing. And as she spoke, I was reborn. Note after note, beat after beat, the music began to flow again. It was no longer dark. It was filtered, warm light, the kind that makes you slowly open your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Hyla didn't come to stay. And I never asked her to. I gave her shelter, time, space to get back on her feet. And when she was ready, I let her go. Without chains, without promises. With only the certainty that, if she knocked again, I would be there.

Hyla was released on October 6, 2022<\/strong>, the album that bears his name. Ten tracks that recount our meeting, his struggles, his journey. An album that was a blessing for me, and I hope it can be for those who listen to it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Every now and then Hyla comes back. She tells me a new story. More music is born. Then we say goodbye, and I don't know if I'll see her again. But that's okay. She has her mission. I've accomplished mine: I gave her shelter when she needed it.
And my door will always be open to her.
