Cohos Petrae

Spread the love

Cohors Petrae It's not a traditional band. It's a collective born from an almost absurd idea: to take faith, liturgy, and the sacred, and remove the patina of dust and silence we've encased them in. We want to shed new light on the mystery, and we've chosen to do so through rock and prog-metal. Not to desecrate, but to make things heard for what they are.
If you think about it, God becoming flesh in a stable, or a betrayed man rising from the dead, are the greatest scandals in history.. They are cosmic earthquakes. And earthquakes are not whispered.
Our journey began almost by chance, translating liturgical texts into Latin with distorted guitars and orchestrations, and finding an unexpected welcome even from the Church.

From there our two pillars were born:
Eight Days (2025): An intimate and unique journey through Holy Week. Eight songs, one per day from Palm Sunday to Easter, exploring uncomfortable perspectives (such as the betrayal seen through the eyes of Judas).
Natus Est (2025): A true Christmas Mass in prog-metal style. Twelve songs that faithfully follow the liturgy, from the Kyrie to the Agnus Dei, to remind us that that birth was not a sweet and silent event, but something explosive.
We don't pretend to convert anyone, and we don't know if we'll be excommunicated. What we do is seek a new language for an ancient story. Total respect for the faith, total freedom of expression. Blast beats that serve the mystery instead of covering it up.
